Hello friends of STGB!
It’s summer! Have you noticed? As a teacher… I have definitely noticed. Since the end of term I have been working like a busy bee on my doctoral dissertation and hope to be more or less done by the end of June. Such being the case my visible productivity here on STGB has slowed down a bit but, I assure you, things are still very much moving forward on numerous fronts. I want to remind you of some exciting things going on this summer.
We have a series of summer hangouts for you to join! This summer you can study some formal logic and discuss some shorter works of great literature with myself and other friends of STGB. The first hangout, A Crash Course on Logic, is this Thursday at 6pm PST. Free subscribers may join one hangout for free, paid subscribers can sign up for unlimited hangouts. Here is the ORIGINAL POST where you can go to learn more about the dates, times, and content of each hangout. You can sign up for hangouts HERE.
STGB is heading to the Repairing the Ruins conference (June 21-24) as a vendor for the first time ever! I am so excited to have a booth at this conference which will have in excess of 1,300 educators committed to classical Christian education. This is a major step forward for STGB as pertains to getting on the classical Christian education radar. As we are creating a brand new curriculum for CCE schools and homeschool families we are working hard to get the word out! Your help and support has allowed me to purchase professionally printed banners, table signage, business cards, bookmarks, and an STGB polo so I can look the part! Thank you for partnering with STGB through prayer, sharing, and paid subbing. You are making this project happen! If you want to learn more about the ongoing curriculum project and STGB’s theological and cultural commitments click HERE.
We have just finished the beta edition of G. A. Henty’s The Young Carthaginian student study Guide. The PDF has just been uploaded to the STGB Teachers page for paid subscribers. Paid subscribers get access to easy-to-print editions of the study guides which also include additional information like vocabulary lists with definitions, character lists, and more. These editions are ideal for use in classrooms, homeschool and for personal study. All STGB curriculum will be made available to paid subscribers, in beta form, before the finalized editions go to hard-copy print. To see the list of completed study guides you can go HERE. More are currently in production and will be available in the near future.
Again, thank you for your prayers, your shares, and your encouraging comments, likes, and subscriptions. Your engagement with STGB has assured me that this curriculum is both desired and needed. Please continue to interact with STGB as we work towards a fully-integrated, biblically faithful, and culturally conservative Christian curriculum covering History, Literature, Logic, Rhetoric, and Composition. We have a long road ahead of us before we reach the finish line but we plan to have a lot of fun along the way!
Soli Deo Gloria,
Jacob Allee
