My bookclub is reading David Jack's collection of Christmas stories by George MacDonald https://a.co/d/84x2wfN. It has such an otherworldly feel too it. I'm really enjoying it.
Excellent list. I read A Christmas Carol every Christmas and always discover something new. I may have to add The Lord of the Rings to the rotation, though lol.
I'm reading A Christmas Carol now, for the first time (I think--I can't imagine that the version I read/had read to me as a child was anything other than a poor retelling), and it truly is a revelation. I think I few years ago, I would have been too cynical--would have said it was saccharine, predictable--but this year, I was ready for it. It's so excellent!

It’s really wonderful. If you are interested, I wrote a brief analysis about the book here. https://stgb.substack.com/p/god-save-you?utm_source=publication-search
Oh, perfect, thank you! I shall definitely read it once I've finished Dickens!
I agree with your priorities.
Thank you!
My pleasure!
