For those of us who have virtual students in 6th and 7th grade, how would you recommend we teach them declamation? Any tips are welcomed. Thank you.

Great article. Even though I’m not Christian (not meaning I’m faithless, just not someone who follows doctrines), I truly appreciated your kind and benevolent approach to Christianity and how it weaves into the broader philosophy of your piece.

As for the substance of the article, I wholeheartedly agree: modern education systems have failed us, and continue to fail our youth, especially in these hyper-technological times that often foster self-inflicted isolation. It would serve us well if educational institutions looked to the past and reintroduced the humanities as central pillars in the development of the highest self.

In my teens, I attended a private high school founded by a family of Presidents and Prime Ministers from my country. One might assume that such a school, rooted in a legacy of statesmanship, would offer training in rhetoric and public speaking. And yet, I learned no such skill there. In fact, I struggle to identify any lasting, applicable skill I gained at all. This disconnect is emblematic of a wider failure in education: a loss of commitment to cultivating the whole human being, replaced by sterile metrics and utilitarian goals. Even institutions born from traditions of leadership and oratory have turned away from the very tools that once empowered individuals to think deeply, speak clearly, and live meaningfully.

So congratulations on the work you're doing at your school. Keep nurturing those young minds into becoming thoughtful, grounded human beings. And thank you for sharing your vision.
