Hi Amy, they correspond to the annotation system I use. I mark characters/historical people in Blue, places in purple, events or date related information in Green, key terms/vocabulary/references to other books in red, and I use black for my general underlining of interesting information and marginal writing.
FYI, I don’t require my students to fill out the text journal in color but I do require them to annotate according to that system. I just do it that way personally because I like too.
I love this! There is a new podcast coming out about Great Books and reading well. Maybe the hosts will have you on to discuss some of the ideas in this series on how to read more effectively.
Jacob I noticed that some of the responses on the example appear to be written in colored ink. Is there a significance behind the colors?
