Would Edmund's father have agreed with prince Alfred about not fighting after seeing that it was hopeless even though his belief was that it would be better to die fighting than flee the battlefield?
Clearly Edmund’s father didn’t agree at the time, but Alfred has the tendency to look at the bigger picture and not just the immediate circumstances. I think Alfred was right in his judgement, though Edmund’s father was commendable in his sincerity.
